Cornerstone vs. ezyVet: Reporting Compared

Cornerstone and ezyVet are both capable at the operational layer — scheduling, invoicing, medical records — but differ sharply in how (and whether) that data is reachable for anything beyond the built-in report screens.

Cornerstone: solid operations, thin owner reporting

Cornerstone's reporting is built for day-to-day operational use by front desk and medical staff — solid for that purpose — but wasn't designed with an owner's monthly financial review in mind. The practical workaround most Cornerstone practices land on is exporting specific reports into a separate summary rather than relying on anything the system surfaces natively.

ezyVet: the API changes what's possible, not what's built-in

ezyVet's real advantage is a genuine, documented API that a third-party analytics layer can query directly — that's a meaningfully lower-friction integration path than anything available against Cornerstone's closed, on-premise database. But that's a statement about integration difficulty, not about ezyVet's own native reporting screens, which don't go dramatically further than Cornerstone's in per-provider or trend reporting out of the box.

What this means for reporting either way

Whichever of the two a practice runs, neither natively answers the ongoing, owner-level question of whether the practice is getting healthier or not — that requires either regular manual export-and-spreadsheet work or a reporting layer built on top.
